On September 22, the Opening Ceremony as well as the Orientation Day of MPA 2019 Graduate Students of the School of Public Administration were held on schedule. Professor Yu Haichun, Dean of the School of Public Administration, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Subsequently, he gave enrollment direction for the MPA freshmen graduates. The MPA freshmen graduates were then led by Professor Yu Haichun to visit the University History Museum and participate the quality development activities. Professor Lv Weixia, Vice Dean of the School, and Professor Shao Peng, the teacher's representative, also attended the opening ceremony and made speeches.

At the opening ceremony, Dean Yu first delivered a speech. On behalf of the faculty and students, he warmly welcomed the graduate of 2019. Then he introduced the basic situation of the School of Public Administration and put forward three requirements for the freshmen graduate: first, keep in mind the original intention and mission of being a student at school, constantly broaden horizons and improve ability of governance and management; second, learn to study and learn to ask questions, try to master the learning methods at the postgraduate stage, so as to better practice the theories. Third, respect the rules, abide by the regulations of school and university, and take learning tasks seriously. Fourth, be self-disciplined and self-managed and strive for progress.

Subsequently, Vice Dean Lv Weixia and Professor Shao Peng introduced in turn the specialties arrangements and the faculty of the School of Public Administration.

Finally, Sun Junnan, the representative of MPA 2018 graduate students, and Ba Shuntao, the representative of MPA 2019 graduate students, made speeches respectively. Sun Junnan shared the experience of studying MPA. Ba Shuntao said that he would cherish the valuable learning opportunities, constantly improve his own quality and try to live up to the expectations of school leaders and teachers. The speeches of the two students aroused strong resonance. President Yu encouraged all freshmen graduate to use “skill panic” to urge themselves at all times, bear in mind the school motto of “erudite, honest, seeking, devoted” and “promote virtues for the public, cultivate morality and help the people”, seize the learning opportunity, improve oneself in an all-round way, wander in the hall of theory and the ocean of knowledge.

After the opening ceremony, the MPA Teaching Director, Mr. Chen Zhe, gave guidance to all freshmen graduates, introduced the overall situation of MPA and the composition of the freshmen graduates in 2019, guided them from four aspects: class requirements, thesis writing, tutor selection and platform value, listed five tasks that freshmen graduates should complete and demonstrated them one by one.

Subsequently, in order to make all the freshmen graduates know about the University and enhance their sense of belonging, the school organized them to visit the University History Museum.

At the end of the orientation day is the quality development activities for the new students. Under the guidance of the professional team-building team, new students familiarize themselves with the campus through outdoor activities, and come to know each other, which promotes communication among the new students, enhances the team consciousness and picturing-overall-situation ability, and the team cooperation awareness.

Through these activities, all the freshmen graduates learned about the overall situation of the school and university, strengthened the sense of patriotism, familiarized with the rules and regulations of the university and the learning tasks, promote relationship with each other, and they would devote themselves to the following busy learning life with a high spirit and an endeavoring attitude.
